In this post , We are talking about the BIP report Data source to create the BIP reports. In oracle Cloud , we can create new Data source as like standard oracle cloud Data source , db_fcsm or db_hcm and develop the reports on that. For example , We can connect the Oracle Cloud with Oracle apps DB and then create the data source to develop the BIP reports based on the Oracle apps DB tables. This is one of the greatest feature in oracle cloud BIP , to create new data source as per our requirement which we can use to create the BIP report. Data source helps to connect the BIP report to that DB. Here below i will share the detail steps to Connect the Oracle Cloud BIP tool with Oracle apps Data base and design the Cloud BIP reports using Oracle apps DB tables.

Step by Step to create a new Oracle apps Data base source to Design the BIP reports

Step1:- We need to go to Reports and Analytics and then in the BIP dashboard. 

Step2:- Go to Administrations as highlighted below.

Step3:- Under Administrations ==> Go to BI Publisher ==> Manage BI publisher

Step4:- Under Data Source , to create new data source we need to click on JDBC Connections.

Step5:- Now here we need to create the new Data source for Oracle apps r12 DB.

Give any Data Source name

Select your oracle apps DB type like 10G ,11G in the Driver Type.

You should have the TNS entry for Oracle Apps DB. Like Host Name , Port and SID.

Then Enter the DB user name and Password.

Connection string Example as below 

jdbc:oracle:thin:@testserver.dev.org:portnumber:sidname

Then in the end test Connection. If connection successful then create your data source. After this step , you can use this data source in BIP reports Data model for SQL query options.
