How to Create vacation rules to Delegate Approval Notifications to Another Person
Use vacation rules to handle notifications automatically when users are not available to manage their notifications directly, such as when they are on vacation. You can define rules to perform the following actions automatically when a notification arrives:
- Reassign the notification to another user
- Respond to the notification with a predefined
response, or close a notification that does not require a response
- Deliver the notification to the original recipient's
worklist as usual, with no further action
Vacation rule can apply to messages of all item types, to all messages belonging to a specific item type, or to a specific type of message belonging to a specific item type. Each time a notification is sent to a user, Oracle Workflow tests the notification against that user's vacation rules
Go to Workflow Administrator Web
Applications responsibility ==> Administrator workflow ==> Administration.
Go to Vacation Rules ==> select the User lov as 'Employee' and select the employee name for which you want to create vacation rules.
Once you select the employee name and then click on the create rule button
Select the Item Type like (Purchase Order , Expenses) for which you want to create this rule.
Select the start and end date carefully for the period you want to activate this vacation rules.
Select re-assign option and select the employee name to which you want all the approval notifications will delegate.

Mr.jack is manager of Mr.Som, Mr.Jack is having rights to approve the GL batch submitted by Mr.Som as per HRMS setup. When Mr.Jack set "Vacation Rules" and delegate all GL batch approval notification to his assistant Mr.Som. then Mr.Som is able to approve the all notifications received form Mr.Jack. But problem is that when Mr.Som prepare his own batch and submit it then it delegate to him due to Vacation rule setup. And We want to restrict Mr.Som from approving his own GL batch, System should restrict this. How this can handle ? setting Profile Option "Journals: Allow Preparer Approval" with value "No" also not working in this scenario.
