What is LDAP in Oracle cloud
LDAP full form is Lightweight Directory Access Protocol. This is the directory available in the Oracle Fusion/Cloud application . We can say this as LDAP directory in Oracle cloud. The role of the LDAP in Oracle Fusion is to take care the Oracle Fusion Application users accounts and the Role Information's. All the Users related stuff handled in this LDAP directory separately.
Functioning of LDAP in Oracle Cloud
As I said , LDAP handles all the Oracle application users accounts information's and what are the roles assigned to these users accounts. All such kind of Information's handles in the LDAP directory. When we create the User Accounts and assigns roles to the existing users all the things happens in the LDAP directory so it does not means that we do this step outside the Oracle Cloud application but all these things happens in the Same applications but goes in different directories. So once we create a new user or attach new roles to the exiting user , We also needs to send this information continuously from LDAP directory to the Oracle Fusion application so that all the things should be sync and on same page so for this Oracle Cloud has recommended to always run the " Run User and Roles Synchronization Process".
Run User and Roles Synchronization Process
This task calls the Retrieve Latest LDAP Changes process. You can perform the task Run User and Roles Synchronization Process from either an implementation project or the Setup and Maintenance work area.
Send Pending LDAP Requests:-
But if we are creating Users directly in the Fusion application like for example from Employees Web pages directly then in this process as vice versa we need to send the Information's from fusion application to the LDPA directory to make this request complete to create new User accounts for the New or Existing Employees.
For this Process to create User accounts from Employees we need to send the Information from Fusion application to the Oracle LDAP directly so for this Oracle has given us the Standard Request 'Send Pending LDAP Requests' scheduled process to process those requests. This helps to send information's to LDAP directory for those User requests which are created it self in the fusion application.
I hope this topic will help you to learn more about the Oracle cloud/fusion applications.
