HCM Cloud Issue : You  must designate one of the existing secondary work relationships as primary before terminating the primary work relationship

In this post, I am going to discuss about one Usual Issue comes during the HCM Employees maintenance time. We know that , We can create more then 1 work relationships or more then 1 work assignments as compared to Oracle apps r12. In Oracle apps , if we want to create new work assignments then we need to end dated old and then can create the new assignment but In opposite , We can create more then 1 work assignment for Employees in Oracle Cloud. So this above issue which I am going to discuss right now is related to that in which if we have more then 1 work assignments and I am getting this error message  ' You  must designate one of the existing secondary work relationships as primary before terminating the primary work relationship'

 

I have an employee having two Work relationships or assignments and now I am going to end dated or terminate the one of them. One important point in the concept of more then 1 work assignments is that , Only 1 assignment works as a primary and other rest of the assignments works secondary.

 

So when I am trying to terminate the first Work assignment , Its giving me this about error message.

 

Cause :- I am getting this above error message because the Work assignment which I am going to end dated is working as the Primary. So when I am trying to end dated this assignment system is telling me that , you cannot terminate the primary work assignment.

 

Issue Resolution :-

 

We need to make the Secondary work relationship as a primary before terminating or end dating the primary one so that system will have the primary work relationship or assignment. So I will first make the secondary work relationship as a Primary and then terminate the required work assignment or relationship.

 

 

Steps :-

 

1.Go to Person management and find the Required Employee record.

2.Go to Mange Work relationship.

 

 

 

Here below Now we can see the Action/Edit button seeing in Employee Manage Work Relationship

 

 

 

3.Click on Actions and select the Edit Option to change the Work relationship from Secondary to Primary.

 

 

 

4. Here below we need to Make Work relationship  as a Primary.
