How to create Custom roles in Oracle Cloud : Creating Custom roles in Oracle Fusion
In this post , We will be discuss about Oracle Fusion Roles and how we can customized these roles as per our business requirement. This is one of the most Important thing in any ERP application customized or create the new custom roles as per our business need and I found many of us wants to know , Can we create the Custom roles in Oracle Cloud. If yes , then how we can do that. So in this post , I will try to explain most of the things related to Custom roles in Oracle Cloud.
First thing , comes in our mind that why we need the Custom Roles. What kind of business Requirment we have to create the custom roles. Here below , I will try to explain one of the Business scenario to create the Custom Roles in Oracle Cloud.
Step by Step to create Custom roles in Oracle Cloud With Business Example
For Example :-
We have the Role Name 'Employee' to provide the basic employee access to any users , In which that user can submit its Expense report to its supervisor so to provide the Expense report submission access to any User , we need to give the 'Employee' Role. As below this is the Icon 'Me' provided by 'Employee' Role access.
Note : User Should have Employee type for Expense report access.
But that 'Employee' Role by default provide 'Reports & Analytics' Access from which users can have the BIP reports access as below.
Business Requirment :-
As a business Requirment , We want to provide the Expense report creation access but don't want to provide the 'Reports & Analytics' Access but the standard role 'Employee' provided both Expense report creation access and 'Reports & Analytics' Access(BIP Report Access).
In this case , We need to create one Custom Role which will provide only the Expense report Creation access but not 'Reports & Analytics' Access(BIP Report Access).
Here below I will share the detail steps to create the Custom Role for Employee Role access
Step1:- Go to roles and then find the standard 'Employee' role and click on the roles as highlighted below and select the Copy Role Option to create the custom role from the standard one.
Step2:- After Click on the Copy role option , this below screen will be open, here we need to give the name of the Custom Role.
Step3:-
One Roles consists of Two things
1. Privileges
2. Roles.
In custom Roles , We need to remove privileges as well as the Roles too as per our business Requirment so that we can customized the access for that custom role in Oracle Cloud/ Fusion
For Example , in this case , We need to remove the 'Manage Reports And Analytics ' privilege from this custom role to stop providing access of 'Reports & Analytics' in Oracle Cloud .
Like below we can remove some others roles too to remove other accesses from this Custom role too.
At the end , we need to finish this process to create the custom role and then assign this custom role to the Oracle Cloud User Accounts.
