In this post , We will be discuss about the ledger set in oracle apps r12. First of all , i will try to explain the purpose of what is ledger set in r12. If we have multiple Ledgers , which are sharing the same chart of accounts , and same GL calendar then we can use the feature of ledger set in oracle apps r12. Ledger set is the set of multiple ledgers. Here below i will try to explain in more detail about Ledger set in oracle apps r12.
Definition of Ledger set in oracle r12
Ledger set is the combination of multiple ledger which are sharing the same Chart of Account and same GL calendar. For these type of Ledger , we can create under single Ledger set in oracle apps.
Use of ledger sets in Oracle Apps r12
As i say , We can group multiple ledger which are sharing the same Chart of Account and same GL calendar. Using this feature , We can run Open & close Period for All Ledgers at once. We can run accounting program for multiple ledgers at once. Ledger sets allow you to run processes and
reports for multiple ledgers simultaneously.
5 Important steps to configure the ledger sets in Oracle Apps r12
Step1:- Navigation: General Ledger --> Setup --> Financials
--> Ledger sets.
Step2:- Enter a name for the Ledger Set.
Enter a Short Name for the ledger set.
Enter a Description for the ledger set.
Select the Chart of Accounts.
Select the Calendar and Period Type for the Ledger set.
Select the Chart of Accounts.

(Optional) Select the Enable Security checkbox
to secure the Ledger Set definition. If you do not enable security, all users
who have access to this definition will be able to use, view, and modify the
ledger set definition. If the Assign Access function is available for your
responsibility, the Assign Access
button will be enabled once you select the Enable Security checkbox. Choose the Assign Access button to assign the definition to one or more Definition Access Sets with the desired privileges.

Step3:- In the Ledger/Ledger Set column, choose the
ledgers and/or ledger sets to be included in the ledger set. Only those ledgers
and ledger sets that share the same chart of accounts, calendar, and period
type specified for the ledger set definition will be available.
If you use reporting currencies (Journal or Sub Ledger Level), you can choose
reporting currencies to be included in the ledger set. Only those reporting
currencies that share the same chart of accounts, calendar, and period type

Step 4:- Need to save the work. The General Ledger Accounting Setup Program will be submitted.

Step 5 :- Once the General Ledger Accounting Setup Program will be completed successfully , Then system automatically create the Data Access Set for the Ledger Set with the same name in oracle apps r12.
Step 6:- To see the Data Access set in oracle apps r12 which is created automatically from the ledger set need to this below navigation.
Navigation: General Ledger --> Setup -->
Financials -->Data Access Set
Step 7:- After the Data Access set has been created. Now we need to assign this Data Set for that Oracle responsibility which will have the access for all Ledgers and run all programs for all ledgers in oracle apps r12.
Step 8:- To attach the data set with responsibility , we need to go the Profiles Option as below.
Navigation: System administrator --> Profiles
--> Systems.
