Oracle Fusion Application Models : What Is SAAS and PAAS in Oracle Cloud
Oracle Provides its Fusion application in different models as per the Business Requirment. The most popular Oracle Fusion Application Models are 'SAAS' and 'PAAS'. Here in this Article we will try to understand the difference and the features of each its Module's.
SAAS (Software as a Service)
SAAS Full form is Software as a Service. In SAAS model is the Pure Cloud based Model in which Oracle Maintains and develop the Application. In this Model , Application maintenance and the Upgradations responsibility totally on the Oracle Side. Oracle Handles and maintain all the Infrastructures of the Application and customer does not need to much bother about on that side. In SAAS Oracle manages all the hardware, middleware, application software, and security So we can say that this is very cost Effective solution of the Companies. The best part of the SAAS model is this , Oracle automatically upgrades the application quarterly and applies some new patches as per the Requirment.

Limitations of SAAS
1.Totally Rely on Oracle for Any Infrastructures issues
2.No Data Base Access
3.Cannnot Stop Quarterly System Updates which leads to create issues some time.
PAAS (Platform as a Service)
PAAS full form is Platform as a Service. This is the New Model of the Oracle Fusion Application. In PAAS , Oracle also handles the runtime,
middleware, operating system, virtualization, servers, storage and networking part of the Fusion Application Like SAAS but in the PAAS , Campanian's/Customers have access to manage the application and the data. PAAS is also situated in the Cloud Computing model like SAAS but in the PAAS we have the rights we develop , maintain and run the Web applications.
Feature's of PAAS
1.Cost effective too because Oracle manages the Infrastructure part.
2.No Infrastructure maintenance Requirment by the customer.
3.Have the rights to develop , maintain and run the Web applications.
4.More Flexible as compared to SAAS.

In PAAS - do DBAs have access to the database /sqlplus? Can create monitoring scripts ? Atleast there is no quarter force updates on PAAS, right ? DB is managed by oracle still ?

In PAAS, DBA's have the complete access of the database. DB not manage by Oracle in PAAS.
